Jon and I had a pretty riveting conversation about the Mavs today in reference to them losing the 2nd game of the 1st round. We’ll probably revisit most of this in the Podcast, but we probably won’t be as eloquent. I didn’t do many edits… so enjoy.

Jon – Yeah…if the mavs would actually go to the basket…we might win a game…we shoot more jump shots than anyone ever. We have guys drive all the way to the basket and then pass out to the 3 point line…so devean george can chuck up a shot…really…that’s why you traded for Jason kidd….

At least harris went with reckless abandon….

Bass is the 2nd best guy we have…

Toph – bass is easily the 2nd best guy we have.
i’m really happy josh howard has decided to be a little bitch.

nothing make sense to me. i mean, i have no words. i’ve been trying to sort through it.

i feel like when the mavs lose, they fuckin’ lose.

how do you fix this? who can you trade and what can you get? suddenly, the mavs are the oldest team in history. eddie jones? stack? kidd? malik fuckin’ allen? fab-five howard???
i mean come on… no one from that michigan team is in the nba.

Jon – We look old…and boring….josh howard..man I don’t know about him…he shakes his dude…and then pulls up from 19….all the time…we don’t have one young dude on the team…its sad…im almost glad the games are blowouts…I hate losing the close ones.

Toph – i hate the close ones as well, but at least i feel like they belong on the court.

i just don’t get how these teams are running over them.
this shouldn’t happen.

i thought they were going to start sucking CP’s dick last night.

Jon – Yeah commentary is overblown…they get pretty worked about any new idea. Or player. Or coach…

If we lose this year…we gotta blow the team up…and avery will be fired…and shay thinks larry brown will coach the mavs

Toph – larry brown?
why would larry brown coach the mavs?
does shay just make stuff up?

who are they going to get rid of?
their free agents are shit – george, juwan, malik allen, lue, magloire?
these guys aren’t freeing up very much cap room.

who’s a free agent next year anyways?
no one worth a shit… unless they can get gilbert arenas to make a move.
and, that’s not going to happen.
all the decent free agents will be resigned.
it’s going to be more of the same next year.

Jon – Larry brown wants to coach. Avery and Cuban got in to a big shouting match the other day. I could see it happening…Cuban would do it to make a splash..

We don’t have a lot of good pieces…some of those guys may be coming off the cap. After next year, kidd’s $20 mil comes off…that’s gonna be the year…kobe, lebron, all those guys are free agents that year…

Toph – avery and cuban get into shouting matches all the time, but i know the one you’re talking about.

i don’t see larry brown coming to dallas. it doesn’t make sense for him.
he’s not much different than avery anyways.
which, is kind of why kidd didn’t make much sense.
i mean, kidd in nelly’s offense would be amazing, but not in averys.
it just doesn’t seem like they’re heading in any direction.
avery wants defense, and offensive control… but you get kidd who can’t create his own shot and needs the break to be successful.
larry brown isn’t going to change that.
jeff van gundy on the other hand………

yeah, i wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t make the playoffs next year.
if carmelo’s problems continue (as well as iverson being a free agent)… he could come here.
see that’s a lineup… kidd… howard (terry off the bench)… melo… dirk… damp (bass coming off for dirk and damp)…

eh… eh…

then again, they could come back and win the next two, steal one in NO and win at home in 6.
remember 2001? they came back from 2 games…
didn’t they do the same to portland in 2003?

Jon – we could come back..i hope we do. But it’s becoming a frustrating mess watching them. Remember what it was like when we expected them to win…or at least compete…now I go into every game assuming we’re gonna lose and i’m pleasantly surprised when we win….

We were in the finals two years ago…and now….i don’t know what we are…I don’t like van gundy….we need to do something…

he’s a great coach… i love watching listening to him on abc.
he knows what he’s talking about, and can adapt.
plus… it’s hilarious when he cries in the espn nba commercial.

couldn’t agree more… i almost feel like they don’t ever deserve to win.
but, that’s because they don’t have an identity.
i mean, you almost can’t recognize them at times.
it’s a damn shame.

any time they have malik allen and devean george on the court at the same time i want to puke.

Jon – Van gundy’s alright I guess. He kinda annoys me. He does know what he’s talking about. And he’s a good defensive coach. But I don’t know. I don’t know what I think about mavs anymore. I almost don’t enjoy watching the games anymore. I used to love watching them. Remember when Booth made the shot against the jazz in that series at copper creek…

That’s what I want to be like during games…and that doesn’t happen anymore…we need to pull off something….if we get swept in this series…god…man…im gonna be so burned out on the mavs
