How lucky are we to be living in the Twitter era? I mean, seriously, how the fuck else would I know that Cedric Ceballos is in Mexico right now? Or that Troy Murphy is still… ummm… alive? Or that winning was more important to Drew Gooden than actually playing?!!

We’re lucky, and you know it.

So, Jon and I have talked about having a podcast the past two weeks, but I’ve ended up drunk, which is usually his excuse. We’ll have one on Sunday (this will be Jon’s first time hearing this, and it likely won’t happen anyways).

Could I be more excited about fantasy football around the corner? I may actually be more excited about fantasy football than the actually football season. The joys of being a Cowboys fan.

What the fuck are the Mavs doing? Look, I appreciate going after it, but shit guys, save your money. Let’s see here, Tim Thomas, Drew Gooden, Shawn Marion, Quinton Ross, Kris Humphries, Nathan Jawai, Greg Buckner, Rodrique Beaubois, Nick Calathes and Ahmad Nivens. Son. of. A. Bitch.

When you have to look up all the people your team picked up (in a bad free agent and draft year), you should be concerned.

I’m not ashamed to say, but I was disappointed in last year’s Madden. I don’t know, but I just wasn’t fully committed to it. This year’s looks gooood, but I haven’t seen real game play. I still HATE the fact that they got rid of Madden on the last one. I really don’t like hearing the same shit about players after week one. It annoys the crap out of me. So, if you’re going to call it Madden 10, then it better be fucking good.

Don’t look now (feel free to look), but the Rangers are in 2nd in West. Not only are they in 2nd, but they’re only 3 games back. What does this mean? It means they’re still a game and half back of the Red Sox, who they fucking swept!!! (exclamation points are gay)

Speaking of, who’s surprised Ortiz did steroids? The whole fucking Red Sox Nation is on steroids. Come on… it. is. not. surprising. I’ve got some good news, though. No one gives a damn. I’m now on Ray’s side. Let them fucking do it. Who gives a damn.

And… Michael Vick is done killing dogs, Lamar Oden is a bitch and there were trades in the MLB.

Whoo-fucking-hoo…

Sports is awesome.

I know it’s not funny to laugh at other people’s misfortunes, especially when it involves someone’s physical health. But I assure you, I’m not laughing at the fact that Tom Brady just went down for the whole season. I’m really not.

What I am laughing about is this:

The dude who had the number one pick in our fantasy draft took Tom Brady. Not Ladainian Tomlinson. He pulled the trigger early. I applauded at the time. I made a few reaches on my team. None of that magnitude, and certainly none that have completely destroyed my fantasy team’s chances for the season. At least not yet. His reasoning was, get this, he was worried about injuries with Tomlinson and Westbrook.

But enough about all of the negatives Brady’s injury caused, let’s look at some of the positives that can come from it.

1. The Cowboys’ chances of winning the Super Bowl just increased exponentially. I’m actually kind of glad the Cowboys didn’t go to the Super Bowl last year. I think the Patriots would’ve beaten the Cowboys pretty badly. And I never want to be on the business end of an historical game for someone else again. (That’s right, Mavs, I’m looking in your direction). This year, I think it’s ours to lose.

2. At least I know I’ll beat one guy in our fantasy league.

3. It takes all the focus off of the Patriots as America’s villians. I know everyone loves to hate the villian, but I don’t. I root for America’s Team, the Super Hero. Nuts to the villian.

4. Have you ever read or seen the David Ives’ play The Philadelphia? It’s about a man who is stuck in a sort of Alternate Universe where everything he asks for he doesn’t get, presumably like what one might encounter in Philly. Another guy is in an L.A. where he just lets everything roll right off his back.  Well, I think the Sports World has been stuck in a Boston for the last few years, and I’m sick and damn tired of it.

What happens in a Boston?

You bitch and moan about curses and former dynasties for years and years and years, and then you get flooded with titles. So many titles, in fact, that suddenly the collective fan bases of all the New England teams talk about how they’re “spoiled” on winning and how they’ve just so grown so accustomed to winning that they forgot what it was like to lose. God, I hate that.

I hate it because it’s not me.

5. I get the chance to talk about how the Bears actually looked pretty good in Week 1, stunning Peyton Manning and the Colts. And really the only reason I’m mentioning the Bears is because my Uncle Lando has been checking out the site, and he’s a longtime Bears fan. So here’s your shout-out, Uncle Lando.

So, you see, lots of good comes out of Tom Brady getting injured for the season. If you’re me…or my Uncle Lando.
